Ours; possessive pronoun
1. That which belongs to us; the possessive case of we, used without a following noun.
"The birthday cake is ours. You can't have any."
OURS, noun
1. A specific balance of dumb luck and sarcastic irony, attainable by only a small number of people, most of which do not know of its existence. It is a certain way that things happen, which is equally depressing, enraging, and funny as hell.
"Oh, my God. I was going to ask that girl to the senior prom, but an asteroid fell on her car and flattened her. That's OURS."
Very few people truly understand what OURS is. Some people experience OURS, but don't know how to explain it. As long as you are discussing it with somebody else who understands, it is quite simple, but easily misunderstood.
OURS can also be signified non-verbally, but can be easily confused. The hand gesture for "money" is the act of putting your thumb, index, and middle fingertips together, and rubbing the thumb against the other two. OURS is almost identical, but with the thumb tapping against the other two fingers. The more extreme the irony you are experiencing, or the more upset you are by that irony, the harder your thumb should hit against the other two fingers.
Hopefully, this helps those who need clarification.
